HomeMy WebLinkAboutBlack Creek Pioneer Village Visitor Centre Building Sub-Committee 1983 ~ VCBC-l , the metropolitan toronto and region conservation authority minutes BLACK CREEK PIONEER VILLAGE VISITOR CENTRE BUILDING SUB-COMMITTEE 29-JUNE-1983 #1/83 The Black Creek pioneer Village Visitor Centre Building Committee met at the Authority Office, 5 Shoreham Drive, Downsview, on Wednesday, June 29, 1983, immediately following Executive Committee Meeting ill/83. PRESENT Chairman Emil V. Kolb Members W.G. Barber M.W.H. Biggar J.A. Bryson W.J. Kelly S.A. Macpherson Chairman of the Authority Mrs. F. Gell Members of Executive Committee Mr s. L . Hancey H.C. Lawrie Ms. S. Nimmo J.S. Scott Mrs. N. Stoner Architect Gord Cheney . The Chairman opened the meeting at 10.50 a.m. by introducing Mr. Gord Cheney, Architect for the Visitor Centre at Black Creek Pioneer Village. FUNDING The Ministry of Citizenship and Culture has confirmed that the Authority will receive $1,250,000 additional funding for the total Visitor Centre project. The approval is for $830,000 in the 1983 fiscal year and $420,000 in 1984 This additional funding enables the Authority to proceed with both Phase I and Phase II of the Visitor Centre project. PLANS Mr. Cheney showed drawings and explained the plans in detail He mentioned that a problem has just come to light on the water supply, but is hoping that this can solved by flushing out the existing pipes. . MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION It was suggested that the following matters be looked into a) security system b) accommodation for the possibility of a future Public Address system. FUTURE MEETINGS The members of the Building Sub-Committee were in agreement that future meetings should be on an ad hoc basis, called at the discretion of the Chairman, and requested that an opportunity be given for input on such matters as colour schemes, etc VCBC-2 -2- Res. n Moved by M.W H. Kelly IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT final drawings and tender documents be available July 18, 1983; THAT advertisement of the tender be placed one week prior to receipt of final drawings and documents; THAT tenders be opened Monday, August 8, 1983; AND FURTHER THAT "the tender award be considered by the Executive Committee at its meeting i~3/83, on August 10, 1983.
