Strasser's Memori 1983 ~ KWS-l , the metropolitan toronto and region conservation authority minutes SPECIAL SUB-COMMITTEE REGARDING KENNETH W STRASSER'S MEMORIAL MARCH-28-l983 #1/83 The Special Sub-Committee regarding Kenneth W Strasser's Memorial met at The Old Millon Monday, March 28, 1983, commencing at 4 00 p m PRESENT Chairman of the Sub-Committee Mrs F Gell Members Allan Foster Mrs F Edna Gardner Ralph Ingleton W A McLean Staff T E Barber T E Barber reported that the Ken Strasser Memorial Fund contained $805 00 He indicated tha~ following the last meeting of th~s Sub-Committee, a request had been made to Sandra Birnbaum, Executor of the Kenneth W Strasser's Estate, for the Authority to acquire certain books, slides, black & white photo materials, photographic and fishing equipment. Ms Birnbaum originally confirmed that the slides and black & white photographic materials would be provided to the Authority, as a gift for the Kortright Centre, and that the books and fishing equipment would be provided on loan The Authority would have to pUrchase the photographic equi~ment Ms Birnbaum later withdrew the offer when Mrs Charlene Kuepfer, one of the residual beneficiaries of the estate claimed all books, slides, black & white materials, photograp~ic equipment and fishing tackle and equipment A Foster reported that he had met with Mrs Jenny Strasser and that she was very interested in assisting the committee with the development of the Kenneth W Strasser Memorial at the Kortright Centre for Conservation and would make available slides and black & white negatives as required, and would donate 100 original prints to be sold, with the proceeds to go into the Memorial Fund The Committee discussed a slide show and annual wildlife photographic workshop, photographic exhibition, sale of prints and other items, fund raising, corporate sponsorship, development of a trail and a Ken Strasser evening at the Kortright Centre. IT WAS AGREED THAT 1 Allan Foster and Ralph Ingleton would be a committee to (a) obtain a firm commitment from Mrs Strasser regarding the availability of resource materials for the memorial; (b) develop a plan for the memorial, complete with cost estimates, and recommendations for short and long term financing 2 The amount of $805 00 currently in the Memorial Fund, would be available immediately for the development of the memorial; 3 Mrs Gell would notify all contributors to the Memorial Fund of the plans as soon as they are adopted by this Committee; 4 The Committee will meet in approximately one month Mrs F Gell T E Barber, Administrator, I&E Division Chairman Acting Secretary-Treasurer /mrp I
