CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; STAFF PROGRESS REPORT The Staff Progress Report for the period January to May 8, 1975, was presented by the Staff. Res. ~2 Moved by: M.W.H. Biggar Seconded by: E. Lemon RESOLVED THAT: The Staff Progress Report for the period January to May 8, 1975, be received with appreciation and filed. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; E-2 -2- PRBLIMIN^RY BUDGET ESTIMATES 1976 The 1976 Preliminary Development Budget Estimates were presented and discussed. Res. ~3 Moved by: M.W.H. Biggar Seconded by: A.A. Wall . RESOLVED THAT: The 1976 Preliminary Development Budget Estimates be approved in 'principle; and further THE BOARD RECOMMENDS TI-ffiT: The 1976 Preliminary Development Budget Estimates, as appended as Schedule "A" of these Minutes, be included in'the 1976 Preliminary Budget Estimates of the Authority. CARRI8D UNANIMOUSLY; FIREWOOD SALES Having studied the matter of Firewood Sales very thoroughly, the Staff presented a communication, together with recommendations. Res. #4 Moved by: G. Biggar RESOLVED THAT: The Staff communication having regard to Firewood Sales be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The following price schedule be established for firew00d sales: Full Cord Half Cord Grade 1 Maple, beech, ash, etc. Bodywood $90.00 $50.00 Grade 2 Maple, beech, ash, etc. Limbwood 80.00 45.00 Grade 3 Elm, basswood, etc. Bodywood 75.00 40.00 Grade 4 Elm, basswood, etc. Limbwood 65.00 35.00 Packet A car trunk load - any grade $5.00 The above prices include the delivery charges. McDermott, District Office at Maple, Oqtario, of the Ministry of Natural Resources, presented the Annual Report of The Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority Forest under Agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources. Mills -3- E-3 RESOLVED THAT: rrhe Annual Report of The Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority Forest under Agreement wit11 the Ministry of Natural Resources, dated Fcbruary-1975 and presented by Mr. N. McDermott, Management Forester of the District Office at Maple, Ontario, Ministry of Natural Resources for Ontario, be re,cei ved, approved and filed. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; PROGRESS REPORT - 'OPERATION DOORSTEP ANGLING' A Progress Report on 'Operation Doorstep Angling' was presented. The Report was supplemented by comments from Mr. A. Wainio, Biologist, Ministry of Natural Resources. Res. ~6 Moved by: E. Lemon Seconded by: M.W.H. Biggar RESOLVED THAT: The Staff Progress Report on 'Operation Doorstep Angling' be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Staff be directed to prepare an Agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources to permit the implementation of the recommendations included in the fish management report. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; WATER QUALITY EXPERIMENTS Mr. T. Brydges of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment presented an illustrated report and proposal to run an experimental programme to artificially destratify the waters at Heart Lake to improve water quality. Gardhouse RESOLVED THAT: The report and presentation on the proposed experimental programme at Heart Lake to improve water quality be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Authority undertake a programme, in co- operation with the Ministry of the Environment, of artificially induced destratification of the waters in Heart Lake; and THAT the Authority provide such equipment as may be necessary to carry out the programme. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; WATER QUALITY EXPERIMENTS A communication was presented outlining experiments which were carried out in 1974 by the Water Quality Branch of the Ministry of the Environment, and proposing to carry out further experimental treatment at no cost to the Authority during 1975. Gardhouse RESOLVED THAT: The Staff communication having regard to a proposal by the Water Quality Branch of the Ministry of the Environment to carry out an experimental programme of treating swimming areas be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THA T: ~1e Authority undertake, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment, a progralmne of treating swimming . a~eas with aluminum sulphate in order to determine if this treatment will assist in solving water quality problems, at no cost to the Authority, during 1975. E-4 -4- POLICY RE ACREAGE FOR TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME IT WAS AGREED TrIAT the Staff review the present policy of tree plant- ing programme., regarding acreage limitations. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; OPERATION DOORSTEP ANGLING - Proqress Report A Staff Progress Report on 'Operation Doorstep Angling' was presented and considered in detail. Res. Itl2 Moved by: E. Bell RESOLVED THAT: The Staff Progress Report on 'Operation Doorstep Angling' be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources for 'Operation Doorstep Angling' be extended for a one-year period to complete the project; and THAT the necessary budget provision be made in 1976. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; AGREEMENT FORESTS - Annual Report The ~nual Report covering the management of Agreement Forest Lands with the Ministry of Natural Resources for the period 1974-l975 was presented and considered in detail. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; DESTRATIFICATION OF HEART LAKE - Proqress Report A Staff Progress Report on the Destratification Programme at the Heart Lake Conservation Area was presented. Gardhouse RESOLVED THAT: The Progress Report on the Destratification Programme at the Heart Lake Conservation Area be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: In view of the excellent results observed in the improvement of the water quality of Heart Lake, the artificial Destratification Programme of the waters in the Heart 'Lake Conservation Area by the Ministry of the Environment be continued in 1976. Lemon Seconded by: R.E. Bell RESOLVED THAT: The staff communication reviewing Authority owned and proposed lands in the Niagara Escarpment area be received with appreciation. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; INVENTORY OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES The desirability of carrying out an inventory of wildlife in the region under the jurisdiction of the Authority was discussed in some detail. Res. ~16 Moved by: M.W.H. Biggar Seconded by: E. Lemon THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: An .inventory of wildlife resources in the region under the jurisdiction of the Authority be undertaken in connection with any summer employment programme in 1976; and THAT assistance, cooperation and technical advice of the Ministry of Natural Resources be sought in this connection.
