The Don Valley Advisory Board met in the Humber Room, Authority
Office, 5 Shoreham Drive, Downsview, on Thursday, April 24, 1975,
commencing at 10:00 a,m,

CHAIRMAN'S REMARKS
Mr. Perkins welcomed the members to the first meeting of the year,
introduced the new members and advised that while there was not a
great deal the Board can do at present, a review of present projects
on the Don was desirable.
MINUTES
The Minutes of Meeting #2/74 were presented.

RESOLVED THAT: The Minutes of Meeting #2/74, as presented, be adopted.
CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY;
STAFF PROGRESS REPORT
Mr. Lunn presented a Staff Progress Report covering the status of the
following projects presently active on the Don:
( a) Project W.C.69 - Mill Pond, Riclunond Hill
(b) Project W.C.53 - Extension - Massey Creek Channel Improvements
- Birchmount Road to Foxbridge Drive
(c) Project W.C.60 - Erosion Control and Bank Stabilization in
Metropolitan Toronto

(d) G. Ross Lord - Dam and Reservoir
(e) Lower Don Task Force - Plan of Development
( f) Maple Gravel Pit area
DISCUSSION - GENERAL
Questions were asked and a general discussion held on the following
matters:
( a) Authority interests in connection with the disposal of solid
wastes in the Metro region;
(b) The proposed Brief to The Royal Commission on Metropolitan
Toronto;
(c) The possibility of involving volunteer groups such as schools,
Boy Scouts, etc, , in policing and assisting in keeping the
valley systems and, particularly the Don, free of re fuse;
(d) The desirability of identifying and marking Walking and other
Trails in the Don Valley,

THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Metropolitan Toronto Parks Committee
give consideration to identifying by signs the major trees and plants
in the Wi1ket Creek Park area,
