James RESOLVED 'mAT: The Minutes of Meeting #1/73 be adopted as presented. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; WElCOME ! Mr. J. Morton of the Toronto Humber Yacht Club welcomed the members to the Clubhouse, outlined the history of the Club and briefly described the tour, by boat, to be taken following the meeting. STAFF PROGRESS REPORT Mr. Higgs presented a verbal report of activities of the Authority in the Humber Watershed and reviewed the results of the storm of May 16, 1974. FLOOD CONTROL PLAN Res. #2 Moved by: M.W.H. Biggar Seconded by: R. Cunningham THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: In view of the urgent need for flood control structures in the Humber Valley, which was emphasized by the severe storm of May 16, 1974, THAT strong representation be made to The Government of ontario, urging early approval and construction of the proposed structures on the Humber River and, in particular, the Bolton Dam. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; K-2 -2- EROSION & SEDIMENTATION CONTROL Mr. Maletich presented an illustrated address on Erosion and Sediment- ation Control. Res. #3 Moved by: R. Cunningham Seconded by: M.W.H. Biggar THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Staff study and report on the implicat- ions of assuming title to certain flood plain lands in the valley of the west branch of the Humber River in the Borough of Etobicoke, where severe erosion is occurring on the valley slopes. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; Res. #4 Moved by: A.H. Cowling Seconded by: M.W.H. Biggar THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Authority urge all agencies, both Municipal and Provincial, to take appropriate action to control urban development, by whatever means necessary, to control erosion and so prevent sedimentation in waters downstream of any development. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; Res. #5 Moved by: A.H. Cowling Seconded by: R. Cunningham THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: WHEREAS the Toronto Humber Yacht Club has advised that the Contractor repairing the Queen Elizabeth Bridge over the Humber River near the mouth of the River, has dumped considerable material into the stream bed, THE Ministry of Transportation & Communications be requested to require the said Contractor to correct the condition, and further, to include a proviso in all bridge construction and repair contracts to prevent such occurrances. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; ADJOURNMENT On Motion, the Meeting adjourned at l~:lS p.m., to enjoy a luncheon and tour of the Lower Humber and adjacent waterfront, hosted by the Toronto Humber Yacht Club. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; PROJECT W.C.63 - EXTENSION PLAN FOR FLOOD CONTROL AND WATER CONSERVATION (Bolton Dam and Reservoir) Res. #7 Moved by: R. Cunningham Seconded by: A.H. Cowling ~1E BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Minister of Natural Resources be urged to expedite the approval of Project W.C.63 - Extension - Plan for Flood Control and Water Conservation (Bolton Dam and Reservoir) in order that a start may be made on the Project early in 1975. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; ALBION HILLS CONSERVATION AREA Cross Country Trails THE BO^RD RECOMMENDS ~~AT: Consideration be given to adapting the cross country ski trail system at the Albion Hills Conservation Area for usc as bridle trails during other seasons of the year.
