' , 1~ the metropolitan toronto and region conservation authority minutes DON VALLEY ADVISORY BOARD FRIDAY-APRIL-23-l976 ~l/76 , The Don Valley Advisory Board met at the Authority Office, 5 Shoreham Drive, Downsview, on Friday, April 23, 1976, commencing at 2:00 p.m. PRESENT WERE Chairman Mrs. L. Jongeneel Dr. G. Ross Lord, P.Eng. A.E. O'Donohue J. Sewell MINUTES The Minutes of Meeting ~1/75 were presented. Res. ~l Moved by: E.H. Card Seconded by: Mi s sT. Davidson RESOLVED ,THAT: The Minutes of Meeting ~l/75, as presented, be adopted. CARRIED; STAFF PROGRESS REPORT The Staff Progress Report on conservation work being undertaken in the Don Watershed was presented by Messrs. K.G. Higgs, M.R. Garrett and C. Mather. The report outlined work completed or underway on Project W.C.69 - Mill Pond at Richmond Hill; Project W.C.53 - Massey Creek Channel Improvements; G. Ross Lord Dam and Reservoir; Maintenance of Water Control Structures; Report of the Lower Don Task Force; the status of the Maple Area Study - Sanitary Landfill Proposals; and . Project W.C.63 - Plan for Flood Control and Water Conservation. Members of the Board were shown slides of projects completed and being considered on erosion control in the Don Valley, included in Project W.C.60. Res. #:2 Moved by: F.R. Perkins Seconded by: Dr. T.H. Lei th · RESOLVED THAT: The Staff Progress Report be received with appreciation. CARRIED; J-2 -2- DISCUSSION RE FLOOD CONTROL AND WATER CONSERVATION ON THE DON WA'I'ERSHED Mr. Garrett, Aruninistrator of the Water Resource Division, outlined in detail a draft proposal for the Flood Control Plan Review. Res. #3 Moved by: Dr. W. M . Tovell Seconded by: Miss T. Davidson RESOLVED THAT:. The draft propos~l for the Flood Control Plan Review be received with appreciation. CARRIED; HEADWATERS MANAGEMENT SEMINAR TUESDAY-MAY-11-1976 ALBION HILLS CONSERVATION AREA Mr. Higgs outlined the details of the Headwaters Management Seminar scheduled for Tuesday, May Il, 1976 at the Albion Hills Conservation Area and urged all members of the Board to attend the Seminar if convenient. NEW BUSINESS PUBLIC RELATIONS PROGRAMME RE THE DANGER OF EROSION AND FLOODING Res. #:4 Moved by: Miss T. Davidson Seconded by: Dr. T.H. Leith THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The staff be directed to develop and recommend a Public Relations Programme to identify the dangers of flooding and erosion in the valley systems under the jurisdiction of the Authority.
