Eng. . A.E. O'Donohue J. Sewell MINUTES' The Minutes of Meeting #1/76 were presented. Res. #1 Moved by: E.H. Card Seconded by: Dr. T.H. Leith RESOLVED THAT: The Minutes of Meeting #1/76, as presented, be adopted. CARRIED; STAFF PROGRESS REPORT Mr. McLean outlined progress of works on the Don Watershed. Res. #2 Moved by: F.R. Perkins Seconded by: R.A.P. Moran RESOLVED THAT: The verbal Progress Report, as presented, be received. CARRIED; I<EATTNG CHl\NNF.L Mr. Garrett presented a summary report of existing conditions on the Keating Channel, concerning dredging and potential flooding. Res. H:3 Moved by: Wm. R. Herridge, Q.C. Seconded by: F.R. Perkins J-2 -2- RESOLVED THAT: ~1e summary report as presented by-the staff having regard to the Keating Channel, be received; and ~IE BOARD RECOMMENDS TfmT: In view of the increasing pollution in the Toronto Harbour, the Ministry of the Environment be urged to permit the disposal of d~cdgutc from the Keating Channel in an economical manner at tr..e outer harbour headland, as an interim measure. CARRIED; MAPLE SANITARY LANDFILL APPLICATIONS Mrs. Deans presented a report for the information of the members concerning the Authority's position on the Maple Sanitary Landfill Applications. FLOOD CONTROL PLAN REVIEW INCLUDING MAPPING AND HYDROLOGIC MODELLING Mr. Garrett presented a progress report on the work being done with . respect to the Flood Control Plan Review, and ou~lined the purpose of the mapping work and the hydrologic modelling that is being done. - OFFICIAL PLAN PROCEDURES Mrs. Deans outlined procedures with regard to the Official Plan which have been adopted by the Executive Commdttee and recommended to the municipalities within the Authority's jurisdiction. CARRIED; NEW BUSINESS SABISTON PROPERTY TOwN OF MARKHAM nes. #5 Moved by: F.R. Perkins Seconded by: R.A.P. Moran THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THA'I': A letter be forwarded to The Town of Markham, advising of the status of the Sabiston property and compliance with Authority permit conditions. CARRIED; RE METRO ARTERIAL ROADS REPORT The Chairman presented a letter from Alderman John Sewell, Ci ty 0 f Toronto, recommending that lithe Board request staff to report on the . . effect and desirability of these proposals and that the Advisory Board schedule a meeting in late April in order to take a position on these roadway proposals". Henderson . - -3- J-3 THE BOARD RECOJ.1MENDS TIIl\T: Staff he directed to prepare a report, for connidcration of the Don Valley Advisory Board, concerning the road proposals outlined in Alderman John Sewell's letter dated March 10, 1977, in light of the Authority's recolnmendations to municipalities concerning Conservation Aspects of Official Plans; and further THAT the Don Valley Advisory Board meet on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 1977 cOlluncncillg .It 10:00 a.m., to consider the report. Perkins RESOL VED THAT: The Minutes of Meeting #1/77, as presented, be adopted. CARRIED; METROPOLITAN TORONTO ARTERIAL ROADS REPORT . Pursuant to Executive Resolution #86/77, the staff presented a Report having regard to Metropolitan Toronto Arterial Roads. Res. #9 Moved by: C.H. Chandler Seconded by: G. Henderson RESOLVED THAT: The staff report concerning the Metropolitan Toronto Arterial Roads be received; and THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THl\ T: WHEREAS The Metropolitan Toronto Arterial Roads Report is in the hands of the area municipalities for comment, ~mT the Executive Committee advise ~1e Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto of the Authority's interest in the proposals outlined in the Report, particularly those which will require the construction of valley land crossings; and further J-5 -2- 'rHA'r the Authori ty request the opportunity to commcnt on thcse proposals as thcy affect the Authority's jurisdiction with respect to erosion control, flood control and the general conservation of land at all stages of detailed plan preparations. Sewell, dated April 7, 1977, in connection with the staff report on the Metropolitan Toronto Arterial Roads, be received with thanks; and THAT Mr. Sewell be advised of the Board's recommendation in this connection.
