The Don Valley Advisory Board met at the Authority Office, 5 Shoreham Drive,
Downsview on Friday, April 20, 19 79, commencing at 9:30 a.m.

STAFF POOGRESS REPORT
(a) Water and Related Land Management
The staff reported that the new topographical mapping for the Don Valley water-
shed is now complete and that the hydrology of the watershed is now described
in a computor model: this information is being used to identify flood damage
centres. The engineering study for this work is in progress.
The staff also outlined the 1979 site priorities for work to be carried out
under the downstream erosion control programme. Members of the Board indicated
a number of locations which appear to be vulnerable to erosion and staff under-
took to investigate them.

(b) Interim Plan - Conservation and Recreation
Land Management
The staff outlined the proposals of the Interim Plan: Conservation and
Recreation Land Management, and their relationship to the Watershed Plan which
is being prepared by the Authority.
The Board was advised that the Conservation Land Management Advisory Board has
reviewed the Plan and recommended that it be circulated to the Province of
Ontario and member municipalities for comment.
The Board members made a number of comments with respect to the Plan, which
were recorded and which will form a part of the consideration given to the
preparation of the Plan in its final form.

RESOLVED THAT: Section (b) Interim Plan: Conservation and Recreation Land
Management, of the Staff Progress Report, be received. CARRIED,
KEATING CHANNEL DREDGING
The staff reported on the status of the Keating Channel Dredging proposals.
The Toronto Harbour Commissioners are proceeding with the creation of a
disposal site for dredgeate at Aquatic Park and discussions are continuing
concerning the funding of dredging operations. The Authority has identified
a flood control benefit to the dredging.

proposals be received.

MAPLE LANDFILL APPLICATIONS
The staff reported on the continuing review of the Maple Landfill proposals at
the Environmental Hearing Board. The current Hearing is studying new proposals
for the treatment of this site.

ONTARIO REGULATION 735/73
The staffrepo~ on the status of efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of
Ontario Regulation 735/73. The Authority submissions in this respect have
been acknowledged by the Minister and advice has been received that they will
be considered in the Minister's review of suitable amendments to The
Conservation Authorities Act.
Provincial consideration of the Flood Plain Criteria Study and the Mandate and
Role of Conservation Authorities will also have an impect on the Regulation.
