Kline Vice - Chairman W.G. Lowe Members M.J. Breen J.G. Mottershead D.F. Withrow Authority Vice - Chairman R.G. Henderson Adm. - FC &WC Division E.F. Sutter ABSENT WERE Members MINUTES Mrs. N. Horwood H.E. Kennedy F.J. McKechnie The Minutes of Meeting #1/70 were presented. Res. #1 Moved by: Seconded by: W.G. Lowe M.J. Breen RESOLVED THAT: The Minutes of Meeting #1/70, as presented, be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; STAFF PROGRESS REPORT Mr. Sutter presented a Progress Report by way of a review of various activities presently under way and of interest to the Board. Res. #2 Moved by: W.G. Lowe Seconded by: R.G. Henderson RESOLVED THAT: The Staff Progress Report, as presented, be received. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; REVIEW OF THE ORIGINAL ETOBICOKE VALLEY REPORT - 1947 Mr. Sutter presented an outline of the recommendations contained in the Etobicoke Valley Conservation Report of 1947 and indicated what progress had been made towards the implementation of these recommendations in the way of Projects and through various policies adopted by the Authority. Res. #3 Moved by: M.J. Breen Seconded by: D.F. Withrow L -2 -2- RESOLVED THAT: The Staff Report dealing with the recommend- ations contained in the 1947 Etobicoke Valley Conservation Report be received and that this report be summarized and distributed to the Board members. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; BRAMPTON DIVERSION CHANNEL - STILLING BASIN The Board considered a report dealing with a recent drowning incident in the stilling basin at the downstream end of the Brampton Diversion Channel. Res. #4 Moved by: J.G. Mottershead Seconded by: W.G. Lowe THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Authority co- operate with the Town of Brampton, with a view to finding a means of improving the safety of the stilling basin at the downstream end of the Brampton Diversion Channel. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; PROJECT P.1 - SNELGROVE DAM & RESERVOIR The Board heard a review of the current status of the proposed Snelgrove Dam and Reservoir and its relationship to the Extension of the Plan for Flood Control and Water Conservation. Res. #5 Moved by: J.G. Mottershead Seconded by: M.J. Breen THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Staff be authorized to obtain a proposal from the firm of M.M. Dillon Limited, Consulting Engineers, for the preparation of Final Contract Drawings and Specifications for the Snelgrove Dam and Reservoir Project P.1. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; OTHER BUSINESS Res. #6 Moved by: J.G. Mottershead Seconded by: D.F. Withrow THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Ontario Water Resources Commission be requested to undertake a study on Outfall Survey of the Etobicoke Creek and the Mimico Creek, similar to that recently completed for the Don River. Res. #7 CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; Moved by: M.J. Breen Seconded by: D.F. Withrow THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Authority monitor the portion of our watercourses that are non - contaminated, to ensure the maintenance of adequate water quality standards.
