Prior to the Meeting, the Members were entertained by the Chairman of the Advisory Board. Leavens E. Sager Dr. G. Ross Lord F. L. Lunn K. G. Biggs T. E. Barber J. Griushaw MINUTES: The Minutes of Meeting No. 2/60 were presented. Res. #1 Moved By :- Mrs. F. Gell Seconded By :- Gr Henderson Resolved That : - the Minutes of Meeting No. 2/60 as presented be adopted as if read. Carried Unanimously. 1961 AUTHORITY DIRECTORY: Res. #2 Moved By:- Mrs. F. Gell Seconded By :- W. Leavens The Board recommends that : - the Staff be authorized to proceed with the printing of 700 copies of the 1961 Authority Directory as amended. Carried Unanimously. BLACK CREEK FOLDER: Res. #3 Moved By :- G. denderson Seconded By :- E. Sager The Board recommends that : - the Staff be authorized to obtain quotations on the Black Creek Conservation Area folder as amended for 1961. Carried Unanimously. CCNSERVATION AREAS BROCHURE: Res. #4 2 Moved By:- E. Sager Seconded By:- Mrs. F. Gell The Board recommends that:- the Staff be authorized to proceed with the 1961 Conservation Areas Map Brochure after due consultation with Messrs. 1. Leavens and C. Hawes. Carried Unanimously. G -2 OFFICIAL OPENING CLAREMONT AREA: The possibility of officially opening the Claremont Area was discussed in detail. Res. #5 Moved By:- Dr. G. Ross Lord Seconded By:- Mrs. F. Gell The Board recommends that : - an Official Opening be held for the Claremont Conserv- ation Area on June 28th, 1961, and the following be a Sub - Committee to supervise Staff arrangements: C. R. Purcell F. A. Wade C. Sauriol W. H. Westney Carried Unanimously AW HORITY TOUR: A discussion was held on the advisability of holding a 1 -day tour or projects recently undertaken. Res. #6 Moved By:- G. Henderson Seconded By:- E. Sager The Board recommends that:- the Staff be authorized and directed to arrange a 1 -day Authority Tour of recent projects on a suitable date to include the Authority Offices, Heart Lake Recreation Building, and the Bolton Community Area. Carried Unanimously. PIONEER FESTIVAL: The advisability of staging the Pioneer Festival in the Spring rather than in the Fall was discussed at some length. Res. #7 Moved By:- W. Leavens Seconded By:- Dr. G. Ross Lord The Board recommends that:- the Historical Sites Advisory Board consider holding the Pioneer Festival as a Spring Promotional Feature rather than in the Fall as is being done at present. Carried Unanimously. OFFICIAL OPENING BLACK CREEK FLOOD CONTROL DAM: The desirability of officially opening the Black Creek Dam was consider= at length. G -3 - 3 - Res. _1;18 Moved By:- Dr. G. Ross Lord Seconded By:- W. Leavens The Board recommends that:- an Official Opening be held during the Fall of 1961 of the Black Creek Flood Control Dam and that Reeve i\T. C. Goodhead of North York be invited to officiate. Carried Unanimously. OFFICIAL OPENING YORK MILLS CHANNEL: Res. #9 Moved By:- Dr. G. Ross Lord Seconded By:- G. Henderson The Board recommends that:- a local Official Opening be arranged on a suit- able date to commemorate the completion of the York Mills Channel improvements. Carried Unanimously. OFFICIAL OPENING BOLTON COMMUNITY CONSERVATION AREA: Mr, Leavens intimated that he felt that the Bolton Rotary Club would be prepared to arrange an Official Opening of the Bolton Community Area. Res. #10 Moved By:- Dr. G. Ross Lord Seconded By:- Mrs. F. Gell Resolved That:- Mr. W. Leavens be requested to arrange the Official Opening of the Bolton Community Conservation Area in co- operation with the Bolton Rotary Club and other local officials. Carried Unanimously. T.V. SHORT FEATURES: A proposal to produce a number of 1- minute T.V. shorts was discussed. It was stated that both C?4 -TV and CFTO -TV had offered to donate time during the season. Res. #11 Moved By:- Mrs. F. Gell Seconded By:- Dr. G. Ross Lord The Board recommends that:- the Staff be authorized to proceed with the preparation of six 1- minute T.V. shorts as a promotional feature of the motion picture programme at a cost not to exceed $29000.00. Carried Unanimously. RESOURCES FOR TO- MORROW CONFERENCE: Res. 12 Moved By:- Mrs. F. Gell Seconed By:- W. Leavens Resolved That:- Dr. G. Ross Lord and the Staff investigate the possibilities of promotional activities in connection with the Resources For To- Morrow Conference being held in MontrEal during October 1961.
