Advisory Board met in the Board Room, 17 Mill Street, on Wednesday, April 19th, 1961, commencing at 2:00 p.m. PRESENT WERE: Chairman C. R. Purcell Vice - Chairman W. H. Westney Members A. M. Campbell J. E. Harper G. R. Mason R. L. Nesbitt A. E. Reeve J. S. Scott P. F. Sheehan H. Slack Dr. F. H. Van Nostrand Mrs. A. Walker Secretary- Treasurer F. L. Lunn MINUTES: The Minutes of Meeting No. 2/60 were presented. Res. #1 Moved By:- A. M. Campbell Seconded By:- J. E. Harper Resolved that:- the Minutes of Meeting No. 2/60 as presented, be adopted as if read. Carried Unanimously. ADDITION TO AUTHORITY DIRECTCRY: Res. #2 Moved By:- W. H. Westney Seconded By:- A. E. Reeve The Board recommends that:- a brief description of Schemes of the Authority be included in the next issue of the Authority Directory. Carried Unanimously. LOWER DUFFIN CREEK -- SCHEME W.C. -2$: Res. #3 Moved By:- P. F. Sheehan Seconded By:- R. L. Nesbitt The Board recommends that:- 1'hereas the Federal Government have now approved of financial participation in the Flood Control Plan, the Board recommends that action be taken immediately to acquire the Flood Plain lands in the :tower Duffin Creek included in Scheme W.C.-28. Carried Unanimously. EROSION AND FLOOD CONTROL STUDY WEST BRANCH DUFFIN CREEK: Res. #4 Moved By:- A. E. Reeve Seconded By:- G. R. Mason Resolved That:- the Executive be commended for the H -2 P•MILNE DAM: Res. #5 - 2 - prompt and efficient manner of dealing with the recommendation of the Board regarding the study of erosion and flood control on the West Branch of Duffin Creek. Moved By:- Mrs. A. Walker Seconded By :- G. R. Mason The Board recommends that : - the long overdue action be now taken to acquire the Milne Dam property. Carried Unanimously. ADVISORY BOARD MEETINGS: Res. #6 Moved By :- J. S. Scott Seconded By :- J. E. Harper Resolved That : - future meetings of this Board be held in the Mill Street 3oard Room. Carried Unanimously. LOWER ROUGE RIVER -- SCHEME W.C. -27 Res. #7 Moved By :- J. S. Scott Seconded By :- R. L. Nesbitt The Board recommends that : - whereas the Federal Government have now approved of financial participation in the Flood Control Plan, the Board recommends that action be taken immediately to acquire the Flood Plain lands in the Lower Rouge River included in Scheme W.C. -27. Carried Unanimously. SCARBOROUGH BLUFFS: Res. ,18 Moved By:- G. R. Mason Seconded By :- Mrs. A. Walker Resolved That : - the Board inquire as to the final disposal or use of the 2504 from the lake shore to the rear lot line of the Subdivision known as Guildwood Subdivision in the Township of Scarborough; this having been set aside at the request of the Authority. Carried Unanimously. RECREATION DELEGATION: ilr. F. D. Hibbert appeared before the Board representing the Canadian r,ssociadion of Parks, Pools, and Beaches, requesting that consideration be given to the Authority not competing with operations carried out by members of his Association. He was advised that his request should be directed to the Executive Committee. ADJOURNMENT: On Motion, the Meeting adjourned at 5 :05 p.m. C. R. Purcell F. L. Whereas the Federal Government have now approved of financial particpation in the Flood Control Plan, the Board recommends that action be taken immediately to acquire the Flood Plain lands in the Lower Duffin Creek included in Scheme W.C. -28. 3. The long overdue action be now taken to acquire the Milne Dam property. 4. Advisory Board Wednesday, September 20th, 1961 No. 2 The R.D.H.P. Advisory Board met at the home of the Chairman, Mr. Purcell, and preceding the Meeting, toured the Lower Duffin's Creek, the Lower Rouge River, and the Lower Highland Creek -- all projects presently under development, PRESENT WERE: Authority Chairman Chairman Vice - Chairman Members Secretary- Treasurer Director of Operations Dr. G. Higgs MINUTES: The Minutes of Meeting No. 1/61 were presented. Res. #9 Moved By:- R. L. Nesbitt Seconded By :- W. H. Westney Resolved That:- the Minutes of Meeting No. 1/61 as presented, be adopted as if read. Carried Unanimously STAFF PROGRESS REPORT: The Director of Operations presented a Staff Progress Report outlining the progress to date of projects and schemes of the Authority within the R.D.H.P. area. Various members of the Board added their comments Res. #10 Moved By:- J. E. Harper Seconded By:- Mrs. A. Walker Resolved That:- the Secretary- Treasurer be instructed to forward a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Board to the Minister of Highways complimenting the Minister on the work carried out by the Department on the Duffin's Creek Bridge and the Church Street underpass in the Village of Pickering.
