The Don Valley Advisory Board met in the Board Room, 17 Mill Street,
on Thursday, November 2nd, 1961, commencing at 2:00 p.m.

ing the Don Watershed.

DON VALLEY L[I DS -- EAST YORK:
Miss Davidson requested that consideration be given to commencing
negotiations for privately -owned lands in the area formerly covered
by Scheme W.C.-14.

The Board Recommends That : - negotiations
commence, and if possible, options be obtained
on the privately -owned land in the vicinity
of. the West -end of the Massey Creek area of
the Don Valley.
Carried Unanimously.
PRO 'OSFD CP U NEL IMPROVEMENTS -- MASSEY CREEK:
Miss Davidson requested that consideration be given to carrying out

proposed improvements to the Massey Creek Valley in the immediate
future.

The Board Recommends That:- the Staff
be instructed to prepare a report on
the proposed improvements required on
the Massey Creek between the Forks of the
Don River and St. Clair Avenue with a view
to carrying out certain of the works
involved as a Winter Works project
early in 1962.

PROPOSED HIKING TRAIL -- DON VALLEY:
Mr. Sauriol suggested that there was an ideal location for a Hiking
Trail on the North side of the Don Valley.

The Board Recommends That:- consideration
be given to the establishment of a Nature
and Hiking Trail on the North side of the
Don Valley between Nesbitt Drive and the
rear of Thorncliffe Developments' property.
Carried Unanimously.
Mr. Sauriol drew to the attention of the meeting certain pollution
which he had noted recently in the East Branch of the Don River. It
was agreed that the Staff would investigate.
Mr. Clifford drew to the attention of the Board an unsatisfactory
sewage effulent condition existing downstream from the Ladies Golf
Club at Thornhill. It was agreed that the Staff would investigate.

REPORT NO. 1
of the
DON VALLEY ADVISORY BOARD
(Being recommendations to the Executive)
1. That negotiations commence, and if possible, options be
obtained on the privately -owned land in the vicinity of the
West -end of the Massey Creek area of the Don Valley;
2. That the Staff be instructed to prepare a report on the proposed
improvements required on the Massey Creek between the Forks
of the Don River and St. Clair Avenue with a view to carrying
out certain of the works involved as a Winter Works project
early in 1962;
3. That consideration be given to the establishment of a Nature
and Hiking Trail on the North side of the Don Valley between
Nesbitt Drive and the rear of Trorncliffe Developments4 property.
