Res. #1 Moved by: Mrs. B. Nealson Seconded by: W.J. Haggart RESOLVED THAT: The Minutes of Meeting #2/65, as presented, be adopted as if read. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; STAFF PROGRESS REPORT Mr. Lunn presented a verbal Staff Progress Report of projects concern- ing the Don Valley, dealing particularly with: 1. Don River - West Branch Erosion Control and Channel Improvement - as prepared by H.G. Acres & Company Limited, Consulting Engineers, May -1966; and 2. Channel Improvement Report on West Branch - Don River from Finch Avenue to Bathurst Street - as prepared by W.O. Chisholm and Associates Limited, Consulting Engineers, May -1966. POLICY REGARDING EROSION COYTROL ON PRIVATE PROPERTY Mrs. DTealson brought to the attention of the Board a report of the Technical Advisory Committee on Parks and Conservation on the subject of policy regarding erosion control on private property, which will be presented to Metropolitan Toronto Council and to the Authority. Res. #2 Moved by: Mrs. B. Nealson Seconded by: W.J. Haggart THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The suggested policy regarding erosion control on private property, which reads: I -2 -2- 1. The Corporation should assume no responsibility for erosion control on privately owned lands. 2. In cases of severe erosion which occurs on lands presently privately owned, but which ultimately will be acquired by The Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority as shown in Schedule 'cA" of the Flood Control Agreement between the Corporation and the M.T.R.C.A., the Corporation may assume respons- ibility provided - (a) The Metropolitan Council is prepared to set aside a specific budget item each year, in excess of the funding required for Channel Improvements for Urbanized Areas and Erosion Control for Park De- velopment purposes, to finance the administration, preparation of engineering studies and the carry- ing out of the work; (b) The Technical Advisory Committee on Parks and Conservation recommends that such remedial work be carried out; and (c) The original requesting owner or owners arrange the transfer of all the land required either for the remedial works or the lands outlined in Schedule uA" of the Flood Control agreement, whichever is the greater, to the Authority for a nominal sum. 3. The administrative procedures relating to subdivision and development control, the issuing of building permits and inspection of the work by The Metropolitan Planning Board, The Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the local municipalities be tightened to ensure that suitable conditions are imposed and implemented to prevent disturbance of original ground at the top of valley slopes unless suitable protection is provided. " - be endorsed in principle and that congratulations be extended to those responsible for the preparation of the Report and Recommendat- ions.
