Waters Metro Parks Commissioner T. W. ThomLson Secretary - Treasurer F. L. Lunri Director of Operations K. G. Higgs MINUTES: The Minutes of Meeting #2/63 were presented Res. #1 Moved By:- W. Dennison Seconded By:- Mrs. M, Robinson RESOLVED THAT:- the Minutes of Meeting #2/63 as presented, be adopted as if read. Carried Unanimously. STAFF PROGRESS REPORT: The Director of Operations presented a comprehensive verbal Staff Progress Report on activities in the Don Watershed. PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC SITES IN THE DON WATERSHED: Res. #2 Moved By:- C. Sauriol Seconded By:- Mrs. B. Nealson THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT:- the Metropolitan Toronto Roads Department be requested to avoid destroying any of the existing historic sites in their road development in the Don Watershed; AND BE IT FURTHER RECOMMENDED THAT:- the proposed restoration of the Helliwell dwelling, the Parshall Terry dwelling, and the DeGrassi dwelling by the Township of East York, be approved in principle; Carried Unanimously PROPOSED EAST YORK PARK: Res. #3 Moved By:- Miss T. Davidson Seconded By:- Mrs. M. Robinson THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT:- the proposal of the Township of East York for an Access Road and Parking Lot in the vicinity of the McLean Estate in the Massey Creek Valley be approved in principle; Carried Unanimously. Klinck C. Clifford Miss True Davidson Mrs. Beth Nealson F.M. Redelmeier Mrs. M. Robinson C. Sauriol F.A. Wade K.G. Waters C.B. Thompson E.F. Sutter MINUTES The Minutes of Meeting #1/64 were presented. Res. #4 Moved by: C. Clifford Seconded by: F.A. Wade RESOLVED THAT: The Minutes of Meeting #1/64, as presented, be adopted as if read. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; WILDLIFE PLANTINGS IN THE VICINITY OF THE HELLIWELL DWELLING Res. #5 Moved by: W.C. Davidson Seconded by: F.A. Wade THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: In view of the loss of wild flowers and shrubs, through construction of the Don Valley Parkway, the Metropolitan Toronto Corporation be urged to undertake a reacculturation project in the vicinity of the Helliwell dwelling. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; PROPOSED SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT - VICINITY OF JOHN STREET & BAYVIEW AVE. Res. ,6 Moved by: H.S. Honsberger Seconded by: F.M. Redelmeier THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: In view of the proposed sewage treatment plant in connection with a land sub - division in Markham Township and, notwithstanding the Authority's policy regarding Pollution Control and Recreation in the Metropolitan Toronto Region, all proper authorities be advised of our opposition to such Scheme; AND FURTHER IN THIS CONNECTION THAT: The Staff be directed to prepare a report on all aspects of this proposal, including the possibility of this sub - division awaiting the time that connection with the existing sewer is practical. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; I -4 -2- $UN BRICK SANITARY LAND FILL SITE Res. #7 Moved by: W.C. Davidson Seconded by: F.A. Wade THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Staff be directed to investigate, im- mediately, the height and proximity to the river of the sanitary land fill operation now proceeding on the Sun Brick Property. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; The Meeting recessed at 2:45 p.m., for a tour of certain projects on the Don Watershed. The Meeting resumed at the Municipal Offices, East York Township, com- mencing at 4:00 p.m. WALKWAY FROM TAYLOR'S BUSH PARK TO EDWARDS GARDENS Res. # Moved by: Mrs. Beth Nealson Seconded by: C. Sauriol THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Metropolitan Toronto Parks Department be requested to consider establishing a walkway from Taylor's Bush Park to Edwards Gardens. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; SCREEN PLANTINGS - TAYLOR'S BUSH PARK Res. #9 Moved by: F.A. Wade Seconded by: W.C. Davidson THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Metropolitan Toronto Parks Department give consideration to the establishing of screen plantings around the sewage treatment plant and the Hydro transformer station in the vicinity of Halden Avenue. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY; UP -DATED POLLUTION REPORT ON DON WATERSHED Res. #10 Moved by: F.M. Redelmeier Seconded by: F.A. Wade THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT: The Staff request the Ontario Water Resources Commission to provide an up -dated Pollution Report on the Don Watershed.
