Lunn The Chairman introduced the members of the Board and welcomed them to the meeting. MINUTES The minutes of meeting ,'2/59 were presented. Res. Al - Moved by F. 1.. Wade Seconded by Mrs. Robinson That the minutes of meeting j,2/59 as presented be adopted. Carried Unanimously. REVIEW OF SCHEMES The Secretary Treasurer presented a review of schemes presently under way in the Don Valley. RICHMOND HILL COMMUNITY AREA Res. - Moved by W. J. Haggart Seconded by C. Clifford The Board recommends that consideration be given to extending the northerly boundary of the proposed Richmond Hill Community Conservation Area sufficently to provide a larger area for public use. Carried Unanimously.. USE OF .AUTHORITY LAND Res. ;r3 - Moved by Mrs. Robinson Seconded by . F . A. Wade The Board recommends that the sale of alcoholic beverages of any kind be prohibited in any present or future structures established or to be established on lands owned by the Authority. Clifford The Board recommends that Metro Parks Dept. be requested to consider establishing a hiking trail on the north slopes of the Don Valley from Nesbitt Drive to Don Mills Load. Dennison The Board recommends that Metro Parks Dept. be requested to consider preserving the area immediately south of Edwards Gardens as a wildlife sanctuary. Carried Unanimously. Res. 46 Moved By:- W, J, Haggart Seconded By:- F, At Made .tesolved That:- the Minutes of Meeting No. 1/60 as presented be adopted as if read, Carried Unanimously. REVIEW OF SCHEMES: The Director of Operations presented a comprehensive review of Schemes presently being carried out in the Don Valley, OAKBANK COMMUNITY POND: The present condition of the land surrounding Oakbank Community Pond was discussed at some length. Res. #7 Moved By:- Mrs. G. Klinck Seconded By:- W. J, Haggart The Board recommends that:- the Authority sign at the Oakbank Community Pond be amended to read "Oakbank Wildlife Area" and further that a screen of shrubs and trees be planted on the Southern boundary of the area and that a representative of the Village of Thornhill be requested to meet with Authority officials with a view to arranging a suitable maintenance agreement, Carried Unanimously. YORK UNIVERSITY: The policy adopted by the Authority in the action presently being taken by Authority officials in regard to the use by York University of certain valley lands was discussed at length. 1-5 - 2 - Res. #$ Moved By: N. C. Goodhead Seconded By: Fe A, Wade The Board recommends that:- the present policy of the Authority in regard to York University be maintained. Carried Unanimously. N,ETROPOLITAN BARKS AREA SURROUNDING MILL STREET: This was inspected by those in attendance. Res. #9 Moved By:- F. A. Wade Seconded By:- N. C. Godhead Resolved That:- following the First•Meeting of this Board held at 17 Mill Street, the Secretary be directed to forward a letter of commendation to Mr. T. W. Thompson commending the Metropolitan Parks Department on the work done to beautify the area. Carried Unanimously. ADJOURNMENT: On Motion, the Meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m. H S. Honsberger F. L.
